There I go thinking again!

Well, scratch that thought about the Brewers being in on Carp.  Time to let this blog sit for another 5 months or so!

Spring is in the air...just not where I am!

Just thinking out loud, and it's probably a pretty obvious thought.  With Mat Gamel going down in Milwaukee and Hart out until his knee is better, isn't this the most likely team to make a trade for the recently DFA'd Mike Carp.  Oh and add in the Jack Z. connection.  There has to be one other prospect still there that he was high on!

Why is Jon Heyman just now reporting this?

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Mariners have discussed demoting Dustin Ackley and Justin Smoak to the minors.

Wasn't this implied by Wedge's comments and Geoff Bakers blog on 7/6.

Peguero Up, Noesi Down

Carlos Peguero was called up after crushing AAA pitching.  Noesi is sent down after being crushed by major league hitters. 

I'm very much ok with this.  With the way the offense has been playing, if everyone is going to keep putting up 0-4s, what is the difference if it has 3 strikeouts attached to it (I understand there is a difference). 

The question is where will Peguero play?  LH outfielder.  Is he really going to fill in for Guti, Saunders or Wells.  I don't really like that idea.  So he is more of a DH.  So now he will play in place of Jaso against RHP or will Wedge not play Montero against right handers anymore.  You might as well send Montero to AAA then. 

It's funny how much we can discuss which bad hitter should play against which pitcher.

I don't like seeing Montero not in the lineup for any reason.  It will be interesting to see how Carp does starting a game.  In each of his last two at bats, he has started 2-0 and then swung at a changeup and a curveball.  Hopefully, he can get into more of those counts but swing at something he wants to hit.

I guess I'm not surprised to see Liddi and Wells in the lineup because of the LH on the mound.  It's nice to see Saunders still in the lineup.  It is well deserved, he has been having some decent ABs against left handers.  Tough break for Figgins who is coming off of a nice game.
